, Monday, 6 January 2020 (15:42 IST)
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday, in its important judgement , upheld a law framed by  West Bengal in 2008 to appoint an independent commission for appointment of teachers in Madrasas.
A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Arun Mishra and also comprising Justice U U Lalit passed the verdict on a batch of petitions filed by many teachers."We upheld a law framed by West Bengal in 2008 to appoint an independent commission for appointment of teachers in Madrasas," the Apex Court today said in its verdict.

It shall be the duty of the Commission to select and recommend persons to be appointed to the vacant posts of teachers, the Apex Court said. The case and the ruling can help settle an ambiguity in the law as while governments that fund or aid minority institutions can recommend guidelines for appointments, as per today's judgement.(UNI)
