New Delhi: Schools and colleges in the national capital will be allowed to physically reopen from next week as air quality in the national capital showed improvement, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, relaxation to trucks entering the national capital will be provided from November 29.

The state government also announced to end Work From Home for its employees, while encouraging them to use public transport as much as possible.

Rai said the decisions were taken after a review meeting with various departments.

"All the schools, colleges, institutes and libraries that were banned can now reopen from Monday. From November 29, all government offices will reopen and the work-from-home directives will be lifted. But for this, it is advisable for all government employees to use public transport to the greatest extent for the purpose of commuting.

"Until now, trucks and other commercial vehicles, except essential service trucks, were banned from entering Delhi. But today we have decided that starting November 27, CNG and electric trucks will be allowed to enter. Other trucks will remain banned till December 3," the Minister announced during a press conference.

Schools in the city have been closed since November 13 due to high pollution levels. On November 17, the Delhi government had extended the suspension of in-person classes till further orders. (UNI)
