Jammu: Security was beefed up at Jammu Tawi Railway Station after alert troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) caught a pigeon along the International Border in Ranbir Pura Sector here with a chit threatening an IED blast in the coming days.

The BSF troops, as per sources, on August 18 caught a pigeon with a chit tied to its claw carrying a message to blow up the Jammu Tawi Railway Station.

"The BSF troops noticed the pigeon flying close to a forward post along the border, and they caught him," sources said, adding that the chit carried messages in Urdu and English.

Sources added that the message in Urdu read - "Kashmir is ours, the time has come, it will come," while in English it read as, "JAMMU STATION IED BLAST THE END."

Official sources further said that following the threat message, security has been tightened at Jammu Tawi Railway Station.

Railway authorities, however, said that security-related mock drills are routine, adding, "the Railway Police Force along with GRP and men in civvies, are maintaining alert at all vulnerable points of the Railway Station."

Moreover, they said that security personnel are also manning the railway track, adding, "A heightened security grid is a routine."

Meanwhile, the BSF, along with security agencies are investigating whether the pigeon flew on this side from across the border.
