New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader Motilal Vohra passed away here on Monday at the age of 93.

According to sources, Vohra was admitted to Fortis Escorts hospital on December 19 after he complained of breathlessness.

The Congress stalwart had served the party for five decades and held key positions such as Madhya Pradesh chief minister for two times, union minister and governor of Uttar Pradesh.

Vora was considered very close to the Congress high command. In 2014, he had supported Rahul Gandhi’s nomination as the party’s prime ministerial candidate. He served as the party’s treasurer for many years before late Ahmed Patel was given the post in 2018.

Informatively, Vora had turned 93 just a day before on Sunday.

Mr Gandhi was quick to offer his condolences. In a Twitter post, he said, “Vora ji was a true congressman and a wonderful human being. We will miss him very much. My love & condolences to his family and friends.” (UNI)
