Mumbai:The BSE Sensex on Tuesday dropped further by 508.62 points to settle at 53,886.61 as selling was seen in Technology, Metal, Auto and IT stocks amid weak Asian Market.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 157.70 pts at 16,058.30.
The Sensex opened lower by 174 points at 54,219.78. It was slumped 571 points at 53,824.97, days low, before closing at 53,886.61, sliding 508.62 pts from its previous close.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 54,236.49 and 53,824.97 pts respectively.The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,158.75 and 16,031.15 respectively.The sectoral indices like Technology, Metal, Auto and IT stocks kept the market under pressure on Tuesday too.
In scrips, Infosys was a major loser, down by 2.43 pc to Rs 1437, followed by Nestle India by 1.87 pc to Rs 18,132.60, HCL Technology by 1.79 pc to Rs 926.55, Hind Unilever by 1.54 pc to Rs 2452 and M& M by 1.54 pc to Rs 1147.75.
The gainers were NTPC by 1.84 pc to Rs 147, Bharti Airtel by 0.18 pc to Rs 661.50 and Bajaj finance by 0.18 pc to Rs 5872.The Mid Cap fell by 0.51 pc and Small Cap by 0.52 pc.In 30 scrips, 3 rose while 27 declined.Asian Market too was weak, as Australia was fell by 0.09 pc followed by China by 0.97 pc, Hong Kong by 1.32 pc and Japan by 1.77 pc.(UNI)
