The BSE Sensex on, Tuesday rallied 229.84 pts to close at 71,336.80 on heavy buying in Utilities, Oil and Gas, Power, Commodities and Health Care stocks.The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 91.95 pts at 21,441.35.The stocks include Utilities, Power, Commodities and Health Care kept the market firm.
Utilities went up by 1.56 pc followed by Oil and Gas by 1.45 pc, Commodities by 1.36 pc and Power by 1.22 pc.The NSE posted days high and low at 21,477.15 and 21,329.45 pts respectively.
The Mid Cap advanced by 0.72 pc and Small Cap by 0.48 pc.In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 down.
The gainers were NTPC by 2.44 pc to Rs 310.15, M& M by 1.66 pc to Rs 1662, Kotak Bank by 1.35 pc to Rs 1886.35, Tata Steel by 1.27 pc to Rs 135.20 and Asian Paints by 1.24 pc to Rs 3382.95.
Thd losers were Bajaj Finance by 1.81 pc to Rs 7162.95, Bajaj Finserv by 1.42 pc to Rs 1747.65, Infosys by 1.12 pc to Rs 1544.50 and TCS by 0.80 pc to Rs 3794.60.
Rupee falls 4 paise against USD
The Rupee on Tuesday eased four paise to close at 83.19 on rising demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said.
The domestic unit that fell by two paise at 73.179 in opening session, fell further and finished at 83.19, sliding four paise as compared to its previous close.The Rupee recorded intra days high and low at 83.10 and 83.22 respectively, dealer added.(UNI)
