Lucknow: Seven coaches of Jabalpur-bound Shaktipunj express train derailed near Obra station in Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh today. However, no casualty has been reported in the accident though some passengers received minor injures. ADG (Law and Order) Anand Kumar has confirmed about the incident.
According to the railway officials, the incident occurred around 0630 hrs when 11448 Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj express got derailed when seven of its rear coaches went off the tracks. The accident occurred between Obra and Fafrakund stations leading to disruption of rail services on Chaupan-Singharauli rail route. Train services have been diverted through alternative routes. Prima facie it seems the train derailed due to problem in the tracks but still security personnel were looking into the sabotage angle as the area has Naxalites influence. This is the fourth rail accident in the state during the past ten days. (UNI)
