Shashi Tharoor charged under abetment of suicide and cruelty in Sunanda Pushkar death case

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday filed a charge sheet in a Patiala House Court in connection with the death case of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Indian National Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead on January 17, 2014, in a luxury hotel room in the Capital.

Delhi Police, after investigation, filed a charge sheet before Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh under the provisions of Indian Penal Code. 

The police filed a charge sheet under sections 498 A (husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC. Tharoor has been arrayed as an accused in the case.The Magistrate set May 24 for the next hearing.(UNI)
