New Delhi: Criticising the comments by Prime Minister Narendra Modi linking Congress leaders with Pakistan High Commissioner, senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha today urged the PM to stop communalising the atmosphere and go back to healthy politics and healthy elections.
In a series of tweets, the yesteryear actor said, 'Hon'ble Sir! Just to win elections anyhow, and that too at the fag end of the process, is it a must to come up with & endorse new, unsubstantiated & unbelievable stories everyday against political opponents? Now linking them to Pak High Commissioner & Generals?! Incredible!.
'Sir! Instead of new twists & turns, stories & cover ups, let's go straight to the promises that we made, regarding housing, development, employment of youth, health, "Vikas model". Lets stop communalising the atmosphere & go back to healthy politics & healthy elections.'Mr Modi on Sunday had attacked the Congress over its leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's 'neech' comment and his reported recent meeting with Pakistani officials, alleging that Pakistan was interfering in Gujarat Assembly elections.
Speaking at a rally in Palanpur of Banaskantha, Mr Modi sought an explanation from the Congress over its top partymen purportedly meeting leaders from the neighbouring country. The Prime Minister also raised questions over the alleged appeal by former Director General of Pakistan Army, Sardar Arshad Rafiq, that senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel be made the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
"There were media reports yesterday about a meeting at Mani Shankar Aiyar's house. It was attended by Pakistan's High Commissioner, Pakistan's former foreign minister, India's former vice-president and former prime minister Manmohan Singh," he said. 'The meeting at Aiyar's house carried on for almost three hours,' Mr Modi added.(UNI)
