Gangtok: At least 6 tourists have been killed while over 80 are feared trapped after a major avalanche hit Sikkim's Nathula on Tuesday, an official said.
Some of them were tourists. 30 people have been rescued and admitted to Manipal Hospital, here, they are tourists. Rescue operations are on, said Tenzing Loden Lepach, SP Gangtok, who is supervising the rescue operations on the spot.
‘It is the tourist spot, where they take photographs, more one person has been rescued just at 3:30. It has started raining also,’ added SP. Six people have lost their lives, so far.
"Border Road Organization, Police and Army joined by local Taxi drivers have been actively trying to locate the people buried. 350 others stranded have been rescued after clearing snow from the road," said Lt Col Mahendra Rawat. (UNI)
