New Delhi:Six people, including two children, died while 10 others injured after a fire broke out at a residential building in South East Delhi's Jamia Nagar area in the wee hours on Tuesday.
Seven out of the injured, including one child, are in the ICU.As per the fire department, the call was received around 0230 hours regarding the fire and subsequently, a total of eight fire tenders were pressed into the service.
According to fire department, it looked like the fire broke out in the electric metre board of the building.The injured were taken to the Holy Family hospital. Five people were declared brought dead.It took around three hours for the fire department to douse the blaze.
In the fire, two people were charred to death and many others were found unconscious. Among the injured are those who jumped off the building to save themselves from the blaze.

Zakir Nagar fire incident: Delhi Govt announces Rs 5 lakh for kin of deceased
New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the families of the deceased, and Rs two lakh each to the injured in the Zakir Nagar fire incident.
Mr Kejriwal made the announcement after he inspected the spot of Zakir Nagar fire.
"A compensation of Rs five lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs two lakh each to the injured in the fire incident. All lapses will be probed," the CM told reporters.
The fire broke out at a residential building in South East Delhi's Zakir Nagar, near Jamia Milia Islamia University, in the wee hours of Tuesday, claiming lives of six people and injuring 10.
The 10 injured were admitted in the Holy Family hospital.(UNI)
