New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former party president Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Vadra on Monday, paid tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
Rahul, Sonia, Priyanka, her husband Robert Vadra and Dr Singh, along with senior congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and party workers, paid floral tribute to the former Prime Minister at his memorial at Vir Bhumi.
On this occasion, Rahul, in a tweet, described his father Rajiv Gandhi as 'a kind, gentle and affectionate man' whose untimely death left a deep void in his life.
''Rajiv Gandhi was a kind, gentle and affectionate man whose untimely death left a deep void in my life. I remember the times we had together and the many birthdays we were lucky to celebrate with him when he was alive. He is greatly missed, but his memory lives on,'' Rahul said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes the former Prime Minister.''Tributes to our former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji on his birth anniversary. We remember his efforts towards the nation,'' the PM said in a tweet.(UNI)
