Bengaluru: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday provided a thrilling update on the progress of the SpaDeX (Space Docking Experiment) mission as it moves closer to a landmark docking event.

In a statement posted on X, ISRO revealed, "At 15m we see each other clearer and clearer, we are just 50 feet away for an exciting handshake."

The mission, a significant milestone in India's space programme, aims to demonstrate autonomous docking capability in orbit, a critical technology for advanced space exploration, including human spaceflight and deep-space missions.

SpaDeX has been closely monitored by ISRO's mission control, and scientists are optimistic about achieving a successful docking. "This is a testament to our engineering and innovation, showcasing India's capability to lead in cutting-edge space technology," an official remarked.

Further updates are awaited as the mission enters the final stages of the docking sequence.
