New Delhi: Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear in open court review petitions challenging its earlier order to allow entry of women of all ages into Sabarimala temple in Kerala. A five-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices RF Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra will hear the 49 review petitions on January 22 next year.
The apex court however refused to stay its earlier order allowing entry of women from all age groups into the temple. Supreme Court verdict of September 28, which allowed women of all age groups into the hill shrine, had triggered large scale protests in Kerala where various groups have opposed the move.(UNI)
