For the first time since suffering a major heart attack, former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal set foot in a stadium as he came to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday to watch the high-voltage Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited.
Tamim, who returned to Dhaka from Singapore on Friday night after getting a second opinion on his heart condition, arrived in Mirpur on Saturday noon during the Abahani innings, the Daily Star reported.He was also seen at the Mohammedan dressing room, the side he was captaining before he suffered a severe heart attack.
The 36-year-old had a cardiac arrest during a DPL match against Shinepukur Cricket Club at BKSP in Savar on March 24. An angiogram later revealed a 100 percent blockage in one of his arteries and a partial blockage in another, necessitating an immediate stenting procedure.
Tamim was discharged from Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on March 28 after his treatment at KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar and spent Eid with his family.
He went to Singapore last week for an extensive check-up.In Tamim's absence, Towhid Hridoy is leading Mohammedan in the ongoing tournament.In their last league match on Saturday, Mohammedan set Abahani a target of 265 runs after opener Anisul Islam struck 114 off 118 balls. Abahani reached 153-5 in 31 overs in the run chase with Najmul Hossain Shanto at the crease with an unbeaten 61 runs.(UNI)<>
