Medak (Telangana): Medak town observed a bandh on Sunday following a clash between two groups over animal slaughter on Saturday.

All trade and commercial complexes voluntarily closed, and the police deployed heavily to prevent further violence. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.

On Saturday afternoon, a group protested against animal slaughter in Medak town on the occasion of Bakrid. The police received a complaint about cows near the bungalow pond, which were allegedly brought for slaughter. The police seized the cows.

While the Circle Inspector (CI) was responding to information about cows in Narsikhed, a man from one community attacked a young man from another community with a knife, seriously injuring him. This led to stone pelting between the groups, creating a tense atmosphere in the town. Agitators also damaged a car at a private hospital. The police used a lathi charge to disperse the protesters.

In response to the clashes, the BJP called for a bandh. Heavy police security is being maintained.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, inquired about the incident, urging Telangana Police officials to take action against those inciting unrest. He emphasized impartial law enforcement and protection for victims without filing illegal cases against innocent individuals.
