Kollam (Kerala): Police filed cases against two persons who allegedly placed a telephone pole across the railway track suspecting an attempt to derail Palaruvi Express (16791) heading towards Kollam.

Though the police arrested Rajesh (33) and Arun (39), both of them having criminal backgrounds, locals said not even three people could lift the telephone pole, which had been lying on the roadside for years. The presence of strangers in the area was also noticed by the locals a few days ago.

The incident came to light when a passenger informed the matter to police and a railway gatekeeper. The telephone pole was found across the railway track at Nedumpaikkulam, near Ezhukone, on Saturday early morning.

Later, the police also found another telephone pole placed across the track from the area following information from the locals. Police charged cases against the accused under Section 327(1), Sections 150 and 150(1-a).
