Hyderabad: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in the Warasiguda area of Secunderabad, where two young women lived with their mother’s dead body for nine days, unable to come to terms with her sudden demise.

The shocking case, which unfolded in Buddhanagar, has left the local community in disbelief.

According to the police, Lalita (45) had been residing with her daughters, Ravali (25) and Ashvitha (22), for the past two months. Reports suggest that Lalita’s husband had abandoned the family five years ago due to ongoing disputes.

The two daughters, both employed in private jobs, struggled emotionally as their mother’s health deteriorated. Neighbours noted that Lalita had been showing signs of mental distress in recent weeks.

On January 22, Lalita passed away unexpectedly. Overwhelmed with grief and fear, the daughters refrained from informing anyone and remained in the house with their mother’s body. Succumbing to despair, they even attempted to commit suicide.

After enduring several days of distress, the sisters finally gathered the courage to approach the Warasiguda police station on Friday. Upon receiving the complaint, the police, accompanied by a forensic team, rushed to the scene to collect evidence.

The body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem on Saturday.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
