TRAGIC! One dies, 35 hospitalized in Tripura after having ‘Prasad’ of Lord Shiva

Agartala: A 59–yrs old man died and 35 others hospitalized on Sunday in Dewanpasha village of Dharmanagar in North Tripura due to suspected food poisoning after consuming ‘Prasad’ of Lord Shiva.

Police said a Shiva temple inauguration ceremony was held at a house in the village on Thursday and on the occasion, neighbours, family members and their relatives had Prasad of Shiva Puja. From the next day, all of them developed stomach problems and gradually it became severe, which forced them to go to hospital.

Shalindra Debnath (59) had got admitted in a Nursing Home with serious stomach complaints including vomiting on Saturday who had fallen sick after consuming Prasad. His condition deteriorated on Sunday and in the evening he died.

Meanwhile, Food Safety officials of North Tripura rushed to the house of worship in Dewanpasha on Sunday and visited the house of the deceased as well as the injured under treatment at the hospital. They collected a few samples and sent them to the laboratory for testing.
