Tral encounter: 2 militants killed, civilian injured

Srinagar: Two militants were killed on Tuesday by security forces in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Tral area of south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said.A civilian was also injured in the shootout.
Following specific information about presence of militants, a joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Mir Mohalla and Reshi Mohalla, Tral on Monday evening.When security forces were moving towards a particular area, the militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons. ''The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter'' they said. However, there was no firing during the night, they said.
 
Encounter ensued again at 0400 hrs this morning when security forces again resumed search operation in the area. Security forces blasted the house from where the militants were firing, they said, adding that the house later caught fire. Both the militants have been killed, they said. 
Local residents have been asked to stay away from the encounter site as search operation was still going on in the area. The identity of the militant was being ascertained, they added.
Additional security forces have been deployed in the nearby areas to prevent any demonstration.
 
Mobile internet service has been suspended in Tral and adjoining area as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours.(UNI)
