Bengaluru: Amidst mounting allegations of sexual abuse, sitting Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has broken his silence, asserting that 'truth will ultimately triumph'.

In his first response to the accusations on Wednesday, Prajwal, who stands accused of sexually abusing multiple women, conveyed his stance through a statement via his legal representative to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Bengaluru.

The response comes after JDS suspended Prajwal over his alleged involvement in an 'obscene videos' case. The decision to suspend him was reached during the party's core committee meeting, following recommendations stemming from Prajwal's ongoing scrutiny by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the aforementioned case.

Prajwal was formally charged with alleged sexual harassment on April 28, prompted by complaints filed by his former housekeeper. The charges against him include sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), encompassing offenses related to sexual harassment, intimidation, and violation of a woman's dignity.

According to the complaint, the victim accuses both Prajwal and his father, HD Revanna, of sexual assault. The complainant further alleges that Prajwal made inappropriate advances and engaged in sexual misconduct when his wife was not present at their residence.

In response to the gravity of the accusations, the Karnataka government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations against MP Revanna. Led by IPS officer Vijay Kumar Singh, the SIT, including DG CID Suman D Pennekar and IPS officer Seema Latkar, has commenced its investigation into the matter.

The accusations extend beyond Prajwal alone, as his father, Revanna, who serves as a JDS MLA, also faces charges of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, following a complaint lodged by a former household employee.
