Tulip Garden opens to record breaking 17,259 visitors on Day 1

Srinagar: Kashmir’s iconic Tulip Garden, the biggest in Asia, which was thrown open to public, witnessed unprecedented footfall of 17,259 visitors on the first day, setting a new benchmark in its history.

On Wednesday Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the garden, nestled in the foothills of the Zabarwan range overlooking Dal Lake. Wearing a traditional Pheran, Omar explored the garden, capturing photos and engaging with visitors, even pausing for selfies.

The garden showcases over 1.70 million tulips across 74 varieties, with many already in full bloom.

“On the inaugural day, the Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar Wednesday witnessed an overwhelming response from local, national as well as high-end tourists,” an official of the Department of Floriculture, Gardens & Parks said.

“Following its opening, the garden witnessed unprecedented footfall of 17,259 visitors, setting a new benchmark in its history,” he added.

After throwing open the garden CM Abdullah invited everyone to witness this breathtaking bloom and experience the magic of spring in the Valley.

Last year, the garden saw an all-time high footfall of over 4.65 lakh tourists.

“ This year, we expect the numbers to cross five lakh,” the officer said.
