Two militants killed, security force jawan injured in Kashmir

Srinagar : Two militants, reportedly belonging to Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed and a security force jawan was injured in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on Sunday, official sources said. They said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation following a tip-off about the presence of militants at Mir Mohalla, Hajin in Bandipora district early this morning.

 


However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the Mohalla, militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons. Security forces also retaliated ensuing an encounter. Sources said that LeT militants were killed in the encounter. A policeman was also injured, they said, adding search operation was going on when the reports last came in though firing has stopped. Additional security forces had been deployed to prevent any law and order problem outside the cordoned off area. (UNI)
