New Delhi: The Centre has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the killing of a tailor in Udaipur in Rajasthan apparently to avenge his support to a former BJP spokesperson whose remarks on the Prophet Mohammad were widely condemned.
The Home Ministry tweeted that it had directed the NIA to take over the investigation of the "brutal murder of Kanhaiya Lal Teli" on Tuesday.
The involvement of any organisation and international links in the crime will be thoroughly investigated, it said.
A tailor in Rajasthan city was killed on Tuesday for supporting suspended BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her Prophet Hazrat Muhammad remark.
Two assailants reached the tailor shop, attacked the victim and also shot the video of the crime.
The attackers were arrested by Rajasthan Police from Rajsamand area within a few hours of the incident. (Inputs from UNI)
