New Delhi:In what is seen as the first major in-house hurdle in the formation of the BJP-led coalition new government in Haryana, former Union Minister and senior party leader Uma Bharti on Friday objected to the move to enlist support from controversial leader Gopal Kanda.
"Mein BJP se Anurodh karungi ki hum naitik adhisthan ko na bhoolen (I will urge the party leadership that we should not give up ideological commitments and principles)," Ms Bharti tweeted even as all out efforts are on by the saffron party leadership to form a possibly Manohor Lal Khattar-led government in Haryana - where BJP managed to win only 40 seats in the 90-member assembly.

She said mere winning an election does not make Gopal Kanda, accused of abetment to suicide by a woman, innocent.".....There are many factors those can lead to someone winning election," said Uma Bharti in a series of tweets.

"If Gopal Kanda is the same man who is responsible for suicide of a woman....," she said and cautioned in such case the party ought to reconsider taking support from Gopal Kanda.A former minister Gopal Kanda defeated his nearest Independent rival Gokul Setia by a margin of 602 votes from Sirsa.

BJP leaders including Haryana Chief Minister Manohor Lal and senior leader Anil Jain on Friday intensified consultation with newly elected Independent MLAs for formation of the new government in the state.Mr Khattar, who arrived in the capital, separately met six Independent MLAs and sought their support.

"We have extended unconditional support to the BJP," said Mr Kanda and he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unleashing an era of development in the country.Mr Anil Jain and Mr Khattar also rushed to BJP working president J P Nadda's residence in the morning.(UNI)
