New Delhi/Nashik: A Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet on a test flight crashed near Shirwade Wani at Niphad taluka, 25 kilometeres from Nashik on Wednesday.Both the pilots in the aircraft ejected safely with the help of parachutes.
The incident occurred at 1105 hrs, Niphad, Sub-Divisional Officer Mahesh Patil said. The jet was an under-production aircraft manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) here.
"Su-30 MkI, produced at HAL Nashik crashed during a sortie in local flying area of Ozar (Nashik) Airport today at 11 hrs. It was piloted by Wg Cdr Prashant Nair accompanied by Sqn Ldr L Biswal (Flight Test Engineer). Both ejected safely," HAL said in a tweet.
The Board of Investigation has been ordered to find out the exact cause, it said in another tweet.(UNI)
