Lucknow: More than 51 per cent of the electorate had voted by 3 pm on Monday in the second phase of the staggered assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh for 55 seats in nine districts.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer's office, Amroha district recorded the highest voter turnout of 60.06 per cent of the 2.02 crore electorate whereas Shahjahanpur district saw the lowest turnout at 46.86 per cent.
Among other districts, Saharanpur recorded 56.70 per cent, Bijnor 51.79 per cent, Moradabad 56.04 per cent, Sambhal 49.11 per cent, Rampur 52.74 per cent, Badaun 47.72 per cent and Bareilly 50.18 per cent polling.
In Saharanpur district's Nakur assembly constituency, a presiding officer died after suffering cardiac arrest while on duty Official sources said.
Rashid Ali Khan (58), deployed at booth number 227 in Dhikka Tipri village, suffered a heart attack around 10 am. He was rushed to a hospital where he died around 12 noon. (UNI)
