UP Congress to support BSP candidate in RS polls

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress has announced to support Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate B R Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha elections slated on March 23."The seven MLA members of the Congress will vote in favour of BSP candidate in the RS biennial polls,"said Congress legislature party leader Ajay Kumar Lallu here on Saturday.

Earlier Samajwadi Party has announced to support the BSP by giving him additional votes after voting for party candidate Jaya Bachhan. SP has 47 votes in which they have 10 additional votes.BJP has just announced one candidate as Union minister Arun Jaitely so far and was yet to announce at least seven other candidates.Monday is the last date for filing of nominations for 10 RS seats where polling would be held on March 23 if required.(UNI)
