Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday offered prayers at the Triveni Sangam on the holy land of Prayagraj and wished for the successful Maha Kumbh to be held from January 13 to February 26 next year.
On the occasion, the PM also took a pledge for global welfare by performing aarti at the Triveni of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
The entire programme was completed by the Tirtha priests amidst Vedic mantras. During this, Modi also offered akshat, sandalwood, roli, flowers and clothes at the Triveni.
Earlier, the Prime Minister took the blessings of prominent saints. UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied him.
Modi reached Sangam Nose by boarding the Nishadraj Cruise. He boarded the cruise via the floating jetty at Kila Ghat. Wearing white kurta-pyjama, blue jacket, maroon coloured shawl, the PM stood on the deck after boarding the cruise and admired the waves of Yamuna.
From here, he was also seen going around and observing the entire area. After this, he also enjoyed a ride on a river cruise. The Governor and CM welcomed him once again at Sangam Nose.
After this, the Prime Minister met the saints and greeted them. During this, a saint also presented him a pearl necklace.
From here, he reached the pandal built on Sangam Nose. The priests present here made him take a seat. Anandiben Patel and Yogi also took a seat next to the Prime Minister. After this, Modi performed Puja Archana amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras by the priests.
The priests also made him to sip water. The PM stood up and performed Jalabhishek and Dudhbhishek of Triveni. Modi, Yogi and the Governor also offered clothes in Triveni along with Akshat, Chandan, Roli and Pushpamala.
After this, the PM also performed Sangam Aarti. In the end, Modi also got a photoshoot done in the specially decorated courtyard.
UP Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh were also present during this historic event.
