Ayodhya: The temple town of Ayodhya has been turned into a fortress as tight security arrangements have been made ahead of the consecration ceremony to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of dignitaries on Monday.

Official sources said that in order to maintain foolproof security in Ayodhya, 17 Superintendent of Police (SP) along with 44 Additional SPs and 140 Circle Officer (COs), have been deployed. Along with this 208 Inspectors, 1,196 SI, 4,300 constable and 2,100 trainee SIs have been pressed into service.

Sources said that the borders of Ayodhya have already been sealed ahead of the consecration ceremony. In Mahoba district, the interstate border of Madhya Pradesh connected to Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh was sealed before the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The police have set up checkposts on various connecting routes, including two major highways, in which the movement of vehicles has only started after intensive checking.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Gupta said that the wake of the event being held in Ayodhya on January 22, the police administration in the district has been kept on alert mode and instructions have been given to continuously patrol their area. Immediate action has been taken if any suspicious object or person is found.

The intelligence system has been alerted. Hotels, dhabas, bus stands, railway stations, and all other major places of the district headquarters are being continuously checked. So that the criminals and anti-social elements who intend to create trouble can be caught.

The SP said that in Mahoba district, about 60 km long, the border of the state is connected to Madhya Pradesh. (UNI)
