New Delhi: It is a classic case of 'table turned' and the hand of the clock coming back to the same position -- albeit with a difference -- as a lookout notice has been issued against former Home Minister P Chidambaram.
In 2010, ironically the incumbent Home Minister Amit Shah was asked to leave Gujarat when senior Congress leader was at the helm of affairs in Ministry of Home Affairs.

Nine years back, the Supreme Court had asked Amit Shah to 'leave' Gujarat in the much-talked about Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case.

Representing CBI as its counsel, Rajya Sabha MP KTS Tulsi had pointed out that Mr Shah was granted bail by Gujarat High Court as he enjoyed immense clout in the western state, which was under the BJP rule headed by Narendra Modi.

As soon as the Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail in the INX Media case on Tuesday, suspense grew whether Mr Chidambaram would be arrested by probe agencies such as ED and CBI.

Reportedly, Mr Chidambaram has gone missing since Tuesday evening and teams from CBI and Enforcement Directorate had gone to his residence. On Wednesday morning the ED issued a lookout notice for the former Union Minister.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the government for abusing the powers of ED and CBI against Mr Chidambaram.

''Modi's Govt is using the ED, CBI & sections of a spineless media to character assassinate Mr Chidambaram. I strongly condemn this disgraceful misuse of power,'' Mr Gandhi said in a tweet.(UNI)
