Hardoi (UP): Five persons, including a father and son, were killed and six others were injured when a car overturned in a ditch in the Majhila area of Hardoi district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the accident took place at around 3 am near the Bhuppa Purva turn in the Majhila police station area when the car lost control and overturned in a ditch at the Bhuppa Purva turn on Alamnagar Road.
Police sources said that the wedding procession of Neeraj, a resident of Patiyanim village in the Pali police station area, had gone to Kusuma village. "The incident took place when the guests were returning after the wedding ceremony was over," they said.
Police sources said that Jitendra, Akash, Siddharth, Ramu, Johri and six others travelling in the car were seriously injured in the accident.
"On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took out all the injured trapped inside the car and admitted them to Community Health Centre Shahabad, where the doctor declared Jitendra, his son Siddharth, Ramu, Akash and Johri dead, while six others were referred to a higher centre considering their serious condition," they said.
