Fatehpur (UP): Three members of a family, including district vice-president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait), were shot dead by unidentified miscreants allegedly over political rivalry in Tahirapur area of Fatehpur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, a senior police officer said here.
Inspector General of Police (IG), Prayagraj Zone, Prem Gautam said that the incident took place when Vinod Singh alias Pappu Singh (55), who was district vice president of BKU and a resident of Lawri village under of Hathgam police station, along with his younger brother Pinku Singh (50) years and his son Abhay Singh (22) were returning from their farm in Akhri village.
He said that near Tahirapur, unidentified miscreants attackers opened indiscriminate firing, due to which all three died on the spot. "The mother of the deceased, Shiv Dulari Singh, is currently the village head. Both the deceased and the attacker belong to the Kshatriya community," he said.
The IG said that preliminary investigation has revealed that there has been a battle for supremacy between the two group for a long time due to the election of village head and political rivalry.
Police sources said that due to the protest by the villagers against triple murder the police are still not able to lift the bodies from the spot. "The workers of BKU have announced not to lift the bodies until the killers are arrested. IG, Prayagraj Zone, Prem Gautam is present at the spot with a heavy police force," they said.
