Shahjahanpur (UP): A man threw acid on his wife and two daughters, allegedly on the suspicion of illicit relations, in the Nigohi area of the Shahjahanpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Sunday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Devendra Kumar said that Ramguni (43) lives in a rented house in Tikri village with her two daughters and a son, while her husband Ram Gopal lives in the Shahabad police station of Hardoi district.
"Late on Friday night, when Ramguni was sleeping with her daughters, her husband scaled the wall, entered the house and threw acid on the wife and daughters," he said.
He said that Ramguni's son Ashu told the police that his father Ram Gopal is an addict and had also sold his farm in the Shahabad area due to alcoholism. "After this, Ramguni started living in Tikri village with her children, but her husband used to come here also. He suspected that his wife was having illicit relations with many people," he said.
The ASP said that Ramguni and her two daughters Neha (16) and Rachita (23) sustained serious burn injuries in the acid attack. "The police admitted them to the Government Medical College as soon as the information was received," he said.
He said that on the day of the incident, Ramguni's son Ashu had gone to his friend's house. He said that on Saturday evening, the injured's son Ashu had filed a report against Ram Gopal and his uncle Guddu for throwing acid.
He said that the police are investigating the case. "The accused are absconding and are being searched for," he said.
