Uttar Pradesh: Mountain debris fall on railway track due to heavy rain in Sonbhadra, goods train engine derails

Sonbhadra (UP): Four wheels of the engine of a goods train going from Chunar to Chopan derailed after mountain debris fell on the track due to heavy rain in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, railway sources said.
 
The debris fell on the railway track near pole number 159/21 of Ghaghar river near Brahma Baba bridge due to rain, they said.
 
"At 3 am, the goods train was going from Chunar railway station to Chopan station. Due to the turn on the railway track, the driver could not see the debris, as a result four wheels of the engine of the goods train got stuck in the debris and came off the track and the train stopped there," said an official.

"Traffic was disrupted on the route and the Triveni Express coming on this route was stopped at Chunar while the Jammu Tawi Express (Up) was diverted from Garhwa," they said.
 
After receiving the information, senior railway officials and a number of employees reached the spot and work was started on a war footing to remove the debris from the track and restore traffic.
