Balrampur: In a shocking incident near the Sadar Tehsil of Balrampur this morning, a 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death after being tied to an electric pole. The incident occurred around 6 AM in a residential colony adjacent to the Tehsil office.

According to local sources, the man, identified as Dablau (alias Dubloo), son of late Munnan, resident of Belwa Sultan Jot village, was caught by residents on suspicion of theft.

It is alleged that he had broken into the house of a local primary school teacher and was attempting to steal a metal water pipe and faucet. Upon being caught, he was reportedly beaten brutally by locals, resulting in his death.

However, the victim’s family members have presented a different account.

Former village head Bablu, Dablau's brother, stated that the victim was addicted to drugs and had left the house around 5 AM. Around an hour later, the family received a call on his elder brother Pappu’s number from an unknown caller, claiming that they had caught a thief who was identifying himself as their brother. In the background, Dablau could be heard pleading for his life, saying, "Don't kill me, hand me over to the police." The call was abruptly disconnected, and shortly thereafter, the family lost contact with him.

At around 10 AM, the family was informed that Dablau’s body had been found behind the residences of Tulshipur MLA Kailash Nath Shukla and BJP district president Ravi Mishra.
Upon reaching the spot, the family found strangulation marks on his neck and wrists, suggesting he had been tied up and brutally thrashed.

A forensic team has collected evidence from the scene, including the metal pipe and faucet allegedly stolen. Meanwhile, the local teacher whose house was targeted claims that Dablau was caught red-handed while trying to flee with the stolen items.

Dehat Kotwali Station Officer Brijnand Singh confirmed that an investigation is underway and all angles are being probed.
