Baghpat: Two contractual linemen of the Power Department were electrocuted to death when electricity supply was restored while they were repairing a fault in Doghat area of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, official sources said.
Sources here said that due to the storm on Wednesday night, electricity lines got damaged in Gaidbara village. "On the information of villagers two contractual linemen Tejendra and Pravendra reached the village on Thursday to repair the fault. After taking shutdown from the local substation they started repairing the fault," they said.
Sources said that while the linemen were repairing the fault, power supply was restored from the sub-station due to which Tejendra and Pravendra got electrocuted. "Both the linemen died on the spot.
After the incident the villagers created a ruckus alleging that the power supply was restored intentionally," they said.
