Very dense fog predicted over parts of northern, NE India

Pune: Dense to very dense fog in some pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

Dense fog at isolated pockets over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Cold day conditions at isolated pockets very likely over east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during next 24 hours.

Night temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; at a few places over Odisha,  Chhattisgarh and Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Kerala and Mahe; at many places over Gujarat Region and Vidarbha; at a few places over West Bengal, Sikkim, east Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at isolated places over Rayalaseema.

They were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgistan, Baltistan and Muzaffrabad; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few places over east Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch; at isolated places over west Rajasthan and near normal over rest parts of the country.

The lowest minimum temperature of 3.4°C reported at Amritsar (Punjab) over the plains of the country.

Fog observed (at 0830 hrs IST of today): Dense to very dense fog in some pockets over Punjab; at isolated pockets over northwest Rajasthan and Haryana; Moderate to dense fog at isolated pockets over Jammu Division, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Tripura.

Visibility (at 0830 hrs IST of today) (200 metre or less): Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhiwani and Ganganagar-25 m each; Jammu, Ambala, Dehradun, Bahraich, Malda and Bhagalpur-50 m each; Palam (Delhi), Hissar, Patiala, Pantnagar, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Patna, Raxaul, Darjeeling, Gangtok and Agartala- 200 m each.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and at a few places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and at isolated places in Tamil Nadu and Poducherry and Karaikal.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka state, Kerala and Mahe. (UNI)
