New Delhi:Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists on Tuesday staged noisy protest near Pakistan High Commission here to register their grievance for attacks on Sikhs in Pakistan and said the 'hatred' against religious minorities has emerged as an issue of 'threat' to that country's very survival.
"We have registered our protest...Pakistan should draw immediate lessons from these protests. We have given Pakistan the necessary message," VHP working president Alok Kumar told reporters later.
He further said: "There is a 'nafrat ki diwar (a wall of hatred)' in Pakistani society and that is not against Hindus and Sikhs alone. The hatred is against Ahmediyas, Sunnis and Shias and this is becoming an issue of threat to the very survival of Pakistan".
"We urge Pakistan to act quickly and ensure adequate protection of religious minorities, otherwise a strong world opinion will soon compel Pakistan to do so," he said.
The Government of India on Monday summoned Pakistan's Charg? d'affaires, Syed Haider Shah here to lodge strong protest at the recent acts of 'vandalism and desecration' of the holy Gurdwara Sri Janam Asthan at Nankana Sahib and and the 'targeted killing' of a minority Sikh community member in Peshawar.
Stating this in a release, the MEA said that the Government of India also shared "strong concerns raised by members of civil society, parliamentarians and others at the continued persecution of religious and ethnic minorities in Pakistan, including the recent despicable and heinous acts".
The Pakistan government was called upon to ensure safety, security, and welfare of the members of the minority communities in Pakistan, including their places of worship, and take immediate measures to "expeditiously" bring the perpetrators of such despicable and heinous acts to justice.
Earlier a delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal led by its president, Sukhbir Singh Badal met External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar here and urged the Centre to take up the matter with Pakistan and at all international fora including the UN.(UNI)
