Patna: An Indian Air Force ( IAF) helicopter carrying relief material for air dropping in the flood affected areas made a forced landing in the flood water in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar on Wednesday.
According to the preliminary information, army cops fell down in the flood water from the helicopter while air dropping the relief material in ward number 13 of Nayagaon in Aurai block. Suddenly the helicopter came down rapidly and there was smoke on its rear side when it was going up.
Realising the emergency, the Pilot made a forced landing in the flood water averting a major accident.
Official sources said that soon after the crash, the local villagers spotted the army cops floating in the water. The villagers rushed and rescued them. They took the army cops to a safer place by a boat.
The Block Development Officer and police team of aurai took the injured Army Cops to the hospital where they were undergoing treatment.
According to the source, the engine of the Chopper also perhaps developed some snag in the air.
