Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday ceremonially hoisted a saffron flag atop the newly constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, marking the formal completion of the temple’s construction.
Modi was joined by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the ceremony.
The triangular flag, measuring 10 feet by 20 feet, carries the symbols of a radiant Sun, the sacred ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree. Temple officials said the hoisting was performed during the Abhijit Muhurat, an auspicious planetary period in Hindu tradition.
Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, said the ceremony symbolised the final milestone in the Ram Temple’s construction. He added that the saffron colour represents fire and the rising sun—symbols of sacrifice, purity and devotion.
