Kolkata:Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was admitted to SSKM Hospital here on Wednesday night after being wounded at Nandigram during electioneering. According to the medicos she has injured his right shoulder, leg and few scars are there on the neck. She has been kept under observation for 48 hours
The Election Commission of India sought a detailed report on the incident and special police observer for Bengal elections Vivek Dubey said the matter was being probed
A five-member medical board was set up by the SSKM for Ms Banerjee, who complained of her chest and leg pain,and a CT scan was being done, sources said.
Meanwhile, protest demonstrations were being poured in from different parts of the state after the TMC supremo alleged she was attacked by four to five men at Nandigram in the afternoon.
Earlier in the day, Ms Banerjee filed her nomination papers for Nandigram assembly seat.
West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar also visited the hospital to see the chief minister where he was greeted with "go back go back" slogans by the TMC supporters, who gathered in hundreds at the hospital complex in Bhowanipur, south Kolkata.
TMC's many ministers including Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas and MP Abishekh Banerjee visited the hospital.Special police observer for election Vivek Dubey said once the FIR was filed, the matter would be probed.
He said the whole matter was being monitored. The chief electoral officer sought the detailed report of the incident and for this the matter was being informed to the ECI.(UNI)
