We will not impose a lockdown: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 (18:50 IST)
New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has kept a close watch on COVID preparations of the state ever since its arrival. He has been personally monitoring all provisions and challenges posed by the virus and in that regard on Tuesday inspected preparations at LNJP Hospital, New Delhi.

The CM stated - We will not impose a lockdown; the AAP government is fully prepared to deal with any situation posed by Corona. In the ongoing fight against Corona, I personally visited LNJP Hospital today and took stock of the preparations; arrangements for beds, medicines, and oxygen are well in place. It is good that the number of Corona patients admitted to hospitals during this wave is low, but avoid getting infected and take care of yourself. We can prepare 10 to 11 thousand ICU beds as the situation demands; fully prepared to add 37 thousand normal beds too. Out of 136 corona patients admitted to LNJP, only six came for corona treatment, while 130 came for other diseases and were also found to be Corona infected during the tests. People came mostly for Corona treatment during the April wave, but the number of such people this time is very low.

Situation forcing us to impose restrictions; if restrictions are imposed, employment is hampered; if restrictions are not imposed, then people's lives and health are jeopardised. I want to reassure the people of Delhi that we will remove the restrictions as soon as possible and try to impose the bare minimum of curbs, he added.

Along with the Chief Minister, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain was present.
