New Delhi: Ministers should wear Indian clothes and Bharatiya Janata Party members stay away from alcohol to instill discipline among them, advised Rajay Sabha member Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday.“Western dress is a foreign imposed slavishness. BJP should make it of party discipline for Ministers to wear Indian climate friendly clothes,” he tweeted.

Earlier in June, Swamy had stirred a controversy by posting a similar tweet: “BJP should direct our Ministers to wear traditional and modernised Indian clothes while abroad. In coat and tie they look like waiters.” Though he didn’t name any minister, the tweet came as TV channels beamed images of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley wearing a coat and tie and meeting officials and business delegates in Beijing while on an official visit.Dr Swamy said Article 49 of the Constitution directs alcohol be banned though he did not support penal action. Instead, he suggested that the BJP should ban alcohol as part of its discipline.

“Article 49 of Constitution directs alcohol drinks be banned. While I am not for penal action, BJP should make as part of party discipline," he said in another tweet. .On the eve of Christmas, the MP had said that India is still a slave to British imperialism, though India has just two percent of Christian population. “Christians are 2% of Indian population but India is still slave to British imperialist imposition: That is 2% = 82%”, Dr Swamy tweeted. (UNI)
