Mumbai: Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a man for allegedly molesting a young woman in a Mumbai local train, an official said here on Friday.
According to the police, the 26-year-old victim was travelling by local train to her office in Churchgate on Thursday. She was on a window seat by the platform side. Around 9.30 am, the train halted at Malad.
"The accused approached her at the window from platform and asked if she would have a physical relationship with him."
Shocked by his comment, the woman alighted from the train and approached the police on the platform. The railway police promptly arrested him.
Accused identified as Deepak Gautam, 44, was arrested by Borivali Railway police under Section 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
