Wishes pour in for Manmohan Singh on 85th birthday

New Delhi: Greetings poured in from different quarters for former Prime Minister and Economist Manmohan Singh on his 85th birthday. Social microblogging site Twitter was flooded with messages from top Congress leaders, mediapersons, renowned lawyers and marketing gurus. Even Cabinet Ministers Suresh Prabhu and Birender Singh greeted the Congress veteran, following the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was among the early wishers. Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu posted in a tweet, 'Warm birthday wishes to Ex-PM Manmohan Singh ji.May you be blessed with a long, healthy life.' Union Minister of Steel Birender Singh wrote, 'Warm birthday wishes to our former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh ji.
 

I pray for a long and healthy life for you.' Union Minister of State, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari wrote 'Wish ' My' Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh HAPPY BIRTHDAY. A gentlemen whom History will judge far more kindly than Media he never bullied.' Marketing consultant and founder-partner of consultancy firm Counselage India, Suhel Seth wrote, 'Here's wishing Dr Manmohan Singh many many happy returns of the day. His decency and dignity will always be remembered.' Consulting Editor in ETV Samir Abbas posted, 'Wishing former PM Dr. #ManmohanSingh ji a very happy birthday. Your humility,simplicity & dignity is truly inspiring. God bless you Sir.. Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India TV, Rajat Sharma also wished Dr Singh. Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla posted, 'Happy Birthday Dr Manmohan Singh. You lead us with quiet & dignity. You got people out of poverty.

Congress leaders, including Chief Ministers of various states, apart from leaders of states like Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Gujarat took to Twitter to wish the Economist. Congress leader Milind Deora wrote, 'Birthday greetings for a long & healthy life to Dr Manmohan Singh. Your leadership is greatly missed in times of a global economic slowdown.' Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Bharat Solanki posted, 'Warm birthday wishes to former PM Shri Dr #ManmohanSingh ji. May God bless him with good health and long life!' Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted, 'I wish beloved leader & former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh a very Happy Birthday.
