Bidar: Wrapping up his nine-day long whirlwind campaign ahead of the fiercely contested May 12 Karnataka assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday exuded confidence of a convincing victory for BJP and claimed that the Congress tally in the state will nose dive to an all-time low.
"The Congress tally in Karnataka will come down to all-time low.....The voters of Karnataka have decided to punish the Congress for their lapses and works of omission and commission," Prime Minister said at the electionrally here - his fourth of the day.
So confident Mr Modi was about the party victory that he announcedl that he would be back again for the "swearing in ceremony" of BJP government headed by B S Yeddyurappa.
The campaigning for May 12 polls will end on Thursday evening, however, there is no scheduled programme yet for Prime Minister's any rally in the poll-bound state on Thursday.
During last nine days,
Mr Modi has addressed at least 21 election rallies and also interacted with BJP workers through Namo App. He has also planned one more interaction through Namo app tomorrow and he would be addressing Sc/ST/OBC and slum morcha karyakartas at 0900 hrs tomorrow
"The Congress defeat will be so crystal clear that their party president Rahul Gandhi's announcement for a travelto Kailash Mansarovar can be now fulfilled," he said taking a jibe at Mr Gandhi and went onto say that even Congress unitof Karnataka can join him for the pilgrim.
In all his four rallies throughout the day on Wednesday Mr Modi directed his tirade against Mr Gandhi and charged him with displaying 'ahankar (arrogance)' of a "dynastic namdaar (rich and famous leader)". "Such arrogance only reflects the total lack of faith in democratic norms," Mr Modi said to an enthusiastic crowd cheering at his observations that in democracy, "it is the people who will decide who will sit where".
"But for them the post of Prime Minister seems to have been kept reserved for a particular family," he said in reference to Congress president's remarks made in Bengaluru on Tuesday that if his party wins he (Rahul) could become Prime Minister.
In his election speech at Chikkamagaluru, Mr Modi earlier in the day said: "Look at the arrogance....The Congress party only has about 40 seats in Lok Sabha and in last four years they have been losing elections after elections in various states across India but see the 'ahankar (arrogance)' he (Rahul) now claims in 2019 he will become Prime Minister".
"It appears day in and day out the namdaar (famous) leader is only thinking about Prime Minister's chair," Mr Modi said.
In his last rally of the day, Prime Minister also lashed out at Rahul Gandhi for meeting a jailed leader Lalu Prasad Yadav - who has been convicted of charges of corruption."It is the same Congress leader who tore the Ordinance on allowing imprisoned leaders to contest elections and virtually insulted the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. But today he goes on to jails and hospitals to meet such discreditedand convicted leaders (Lalu Prasad)," Mr Modi said.
Prime Minister said during the entire campaign the Congress party has failed to give account of their five years of governance in Karnataka.
In his rally at Belagavi and also at Bidar, Mr Modi cautioned people against the 'machinations' of Congress party and slammed it for resorting to "undemocratic methodologies" to subvert the due election process vis-a-vis the big row over fake ID cards."Mein pura Karnataka ke janta ko aga karta hoon, Jagte raheiye, Chaukanne rahiya (I am urging the entire population of Karnataka today, that you be cautious and vigilant against the machinations of Congress party)," Prime Minister said.
"Marta Kya Na Karta (What a drowning man will not do)," he said in reference to Congress party and said the grand old party has started using all sorts of 'hathkandey (machinations)' to subvert the due democratic process. "It is not that they have done so only in one constituency, but I feel at least such strategies were applied by Congress party in at least 40 to 50 assembly constituencies," he said about fake ID cards and voters slip that was unearthed in Bengaluru.
"Elections are like festivals of democracy and therefore its sanctity must be protected," he laid emphasis.
"All of you should be vigilant and not give any opportunity to misuse power and ensure there is large turnout of voters on the poling day," he said. (UNI)
