Priyanka may shift her base to UP

Lucknow:Congress General secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has been served notice by the Central government to vacate her government bungalow in New Delhi, might shift her base to Lucknow.

A senior UP Congress leader close to the leadership, on Thursday disclosed here that Ms Vadra might shift her base to Lucknow, where she had already taken a house on rent in Gokhale Marg, in Hazratganj area.

"Instead of moving to a different house in Delhi, she could shift to Lucknow in order to strengthen the Congress's position in Uttar Pradesh before the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections," the leader said.

On Wednesday, the Centre had asked her to vacate her government bungalow in Delhi's Lodhi Estate by August 1, as she was no longer an SPG protectee.

During the past one year, Ms Vadra had stayed several times in the house in Gokhale Marg, whenever she went for a night stay in the state capital as she has been actively involved in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, targeting the Yogi Adityanath administration over several issues -- from arranging buses for migrant workers to demanding justice for the victims of the Sonbhadra massacre.

She has been also active on Twitter, expressing her views on major developments in the state regularly.(UNI)
