Lucknow: Buoyed by an impressive show in civic elections in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cut short his Gujarat tour to join Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders in the state capital on Friday to celebrate what was being seen as an endorsement of his widespread popularity.“I would like to give credit of this win to all BJP workers who worked for the party to communicate its agenda of development to all. I would also like to thank all the voters,” the Chief Minister announced at a press conference at the state BJP headquarters here.
In an apparent jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, he said, “The civic polls in is an eye-opener as some person was talking big things in Gujarat, but could not win even a single seat in his own Amethi parliamentary constituency.” He pointed out that the people have given their mandate to BJP by expressing their faith in government at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh.
