Bhuj:An engineering student from Maharashtra, who was allegedly trying to cross the international border in Kutch district of Gujarat to meet his Pakistani beloved whom he had reportedly befriended through social media, was nabbed by Border Security Force.
Police sources on Friday said that Jeshanuddin S Siddiqui, resident of Osmanabad city in neighbouring Maharashtra had gone missing earlier this month. His family members had also lodged a complaint in this regard with the police. He was nabbed by the BSF from near the border in Kandhwandh in Khabda area of Kutch on Thursday.
According to primary investigation, he had left his home on a motorcycle around a week ago to meet the Pakistani girl. He had befriended her through social media and also used to talk with her over phone. For the past few days, he was roaming around in the bordering Khabda taluka of Kutch district. He had also inquired about the route to the Pakistan border from some of the locals.
Desperate to meet the girl, he even left his motorcycle, which got stuck in mud caused by the rain water in Rann area of Kutch, midway. He was caught by the BSF by tracing his foot marks while he was trying to reach the border on foot.
Sources said that the angle of involvement of Pakistani intelligence and the case being a honeytrap was also under investigation.(UNI)
